Street Machine Weekend 2017

One of the most exciting events from our old stomping grounds of Lethbridge that we had the awesome opportunity to be involved with was the Street Machine Weekend! SMW is a city-wide event that is organized entirely by the Street Wheelers Car Club and its members put in roughly 5000 hours to help plan and execute the entire show. The event is heavily promoted through Alberta car shows and advertised nationally to car enthusiasts far and wide. From an economic standpoint, the event is estimated to bring in roughly $2.2 million into the retail economy of Lethbridge. Foot traffic accounts for approximately 50,000 spectators each year.

Nissan Titan Ride and Drive Event

We were really excited to be invited out by Nissan Canada to cover their event for the Canada Grey Cup. At it, they let people drive a new Nissan Titan through a closed course to test out the truck’s abilities. The short highlight film above was a result of the footage from the day.

About Airdrie, Alberta

The city of Airdrie is located within the Calgary Region of Alberta just north of the municipality of Calgary along the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor. Airdrie also makes up part of Calgary’s census metropolitan area report and is surrounded by Rocky View County.

The city was first established as a railway siding in 1889 around the same time as the construction of the Calgary and Edmonton Railway. Only railway buildings existed until 1901 until the first farmhouse and barn was built, which was then followed by the construction of a post office and later a store in that same year. According to the 2019 municipal census, Airdrie’s population is 70,564, which saw an increase of 3.6% from the 2018 census of 68,091.
